I discovered the plans for a metroid hat at www.metroidhat.com
After finding the plans I headed to the store to buy fleece. I taught myself to sew and started sewing hats and plushies during lectures while attending school. Keeping my hands busy with sewing kept them away from my iPod or other distractions which would also distract my mental concentration.
Over the course of several months I made quite a few plushies. I liked the plushies better than the hats, but in the end I ended up selling most of my work.
I experimented with different fleece colors for different styles of metroids, starting with the Super Nintendo models and then playing with Metroid Prime models. I never did finish all the different colors I had planned, but it was a fun experiment while it lasted.
