The Fictitious Trip Journal of Aaron Mitchell – Day 5

March 11th, 2013

I’m super glad that I’m taking pictures and keeping a journal, because we’ve seen a lot of art and art-y things and I’m starting to have trouble keeping track of everything.

Speaking of photos, here’s a picture of the inside of one of the cathedrals we were at. The architecture and the paintings were really interesting.

Today we spent half the day on a walking tour. There seems to be no end of this walking and also no end to the amount of art Italy wants to show us. I guess I’m okay with that, because I did sign up for the class after all.

I should mention that I got lost today. I was on my way to try to find some authentic Italian shoes and my glasses were tied to my camera again, so I wasn’t paying a ton of attention to where I was going. When I finally put my glasses back on I was in a pretty sketchy place that seemed a bit run down and abandoned. The few souls who were smoking on the street corners gave me questioning looks, but that might be because I was singing a Mariah Carey song to myself and bopping my head to a beat that only I could hear.

Anyway, a few cool things happened. First, I found some broken wine bottles and I think I might be able to use the glass shards to make a better camera lens! Also, I did manage to find a place that sell shoes. They only had a couple pairs that fit me, but I wasn’t sold on the color and style, so I opted for a cool looking pair of walking shoes that is a little too small for my feet. My toes are a bit cramped, but that’s a small price to pay for looking good on a walking tour.
