Apathetic Thursday

It’s far to late at night for me to be posting, but I am currently being blown away by Automators ability to fly through photos. I just gave it 422 photos to shrink down to 1200 px tall or wide, and it is going through about 35 per minute. It’s also shrinking the file sizes from 3-5 MB to 200-400 KB. I was using a little program called “Downsize” which I really like, but took far longer and only shrunk the file sizes to about one-third to one-half the original. I don’t know what it’s doing to the quality of the photos, but they are all going on the web anyway, so it doesn’t really matter a whole lot. I’ll have to see if you can tell a difference.  (If you look at them online you won’t see a difference because I’m using ZenPhoto as my gallery and it processes all the images when it shrinks them down to the appropriate size and then caches them.)
